As part of a prisoner exchange with Russia, 215 Ukrainians (124 officers and 108 Azov fighters), including 10 foreigners, were released. Ukraine in turn handed over Viktor Medvedchuk and 55 soldiers.

The speech from Putin today is a careful balancing act of a leader under pressure, who is trying to: 1. please hardliners and Russian milbloggers; 2. not displease the general populace; 3. appease the military; 4. give the impression he is not losing a war.
Putin’s gamble here prolongs the agony of the Ukrainian people without providing any real chance of a Russian victory. Ultimately this announcement doesn’t change the prospect of a Ukrainian victory. But it means many more people will die before that occurs.

Oleksandr Shapoval, the famous Ukrainian choreographer and ballet dancer, got killed yesterday defending #Ukraine. Oleksandr volunteered for the #UkrainianArmy and joined defenders when the #Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine started on February 24, 2022. R.I.P.
